Category Contemporary Romance

Series romance, which have to be THE most misunderstood genre currently being published, are simply courtship novels about a woman finding her mate.  They vary in tone from very sweet to very sexy, and can be set in small towns or faraway places.  They are intended to be an escape from daily life, much like a drama on television.  In this category, Barbara (writing as Ruth Wind) has won 2 RITAs, for Meant to Be Married, and Reckless; and a prestigious cash prize for best romance novel exploring a social issue, for The Last Chance Ranch.

About the Ruth Wind name:  in the late 80s and early 90s, Silhouette required all their writers to take a pseudonym. By the time the policy was changed, Ruth was firmly established and it would have been pointless to shift.

FAQ: No, I have never written Victoria’s story.  Maybe someday.
